Tanks are not the only thing Hydro-Instal is interested in. This time, our sanitary and ventilation installation department can boast of completed project. It was a sprinkler installation.
Fire-fighting sprinkler installations are an important element of modern facilities equipment. This applies to both residential and public utility buildings, industrial facilities, storage areas and banking buildings.
Thanks to such installations, it is possible to quickly detect a fire and reduce it as effectively as possible. The sprinkler system, under constant pressure, starts automatically when a fire occurs. The detection element is a sprinkler head equipped with a phial which, starts the extinguishing process with water while bursting under the influence of heat. After an initial slight drop in pressure, the sprinkler pumps are automatically activated and continuously supply the installation with extinguishing water. The advantage of such a solution is, without a doubt, extinguishing only the area where the fire occurs.
Such a sprinkler installation was made for PKO BP SA. It consisted in the modernization of the sprinkler pumping station in the building of the Bank Head Office in Warsaw.
As part of the project, fire pumps of the sprinkler system with a capacity of 102 m3/h and a lifting height of 123 m with a 90kW engine were replaced. The pumps are responsible for supplying the sprinkler system of the entire building. We used fire-resistant cables to power these pumps. Additionally, we have performed the following works:
– replacement of 4 monitored Vds DN 100 throttle valves with groove,
– replacement of 4 pcs of DN 100 grooved check valves,
– installation of 2 pcs of OS&Y DN150 flanged wedge gate valves,
– replacement of the flow meter,
– replacement of1 pc of Vds DN100 of the flanged gate valve
– replacement of pipelines supplying installations (all in a grooved system),
– replacement of control cabinets and pump wiring,
– replacement of the DN 200 suction pipeline from the tank to the pumps,
– renovation of the room.
The source of water for supplying the installation is one free-standing, ground water storage tank with a capacity of 145 m3. The tank was placed on the -4 level of the building.
A big obstacle during the implementation of the project was the fact that we were working in a building that was used on a daily basis. But we also handled with it. Some of the works that were the most burdensome for the people working in the building were performed at night.
Below there are some photos from the implementation:
